Chaotic or calm – How’s your year been so far?

It’s July already. Do you feel robbed of your time and plans because of the inevitable situations we all find ourselves in? Or do you feel like you are gaining more than what you aim to achieve in 2020?

Perhaps this is a year you will never forget. Changed plans, missed opportunities, piling up frustrations, uncertain situations or for some a whisper of depression. On the other hand some may forever remember this year because of the important lessons it taught, more time it allowed to rest and reflect, new habits it formed or for others, an opportune moment that revived a life-long passion.

Whether you were caught off guard or you found yourself with a breath of fresh air, these juxtapositions did all of us a favor. It provided a clear lens magnifying what life is really about. Positioned us at the edge of a cliff to show how brave we can be to face depth of uncertainties. It brought us in the darkest place of desperation so we can appreciate the beauty reflecting from the light of hope.

This unprecedented year revealed what we truly value and revamped our priorities. It showed us the essentials and made us love even deeper those people who are dear to us, but unintentionally we seldom make time for.

Clearly the situation is far from being over, and we are all still striving to learn and adapt. And hey, it’s ok not to be ok. It’s alright to feel a bit behind. Chances are, things will get better and sorrows will be over. Don’t be intimidated by people who aren’t on the same page as you. Refrain from trying to understand why they are all fine and you aren’t. The way people handle challenges is different. Don’t feel sorry for being sad or disappointed but instead, take time to listen to the voice of your emotions pleading for help and attention. Focus on controlling what you can until you influence those that you can’t. Be kind to yourself, and generous to others.

Times and seasons will change, and with every process comes a contrast of unwanted and happy endings, as well as new and long overdue beginnings. Are you ready to move to the next phase when the situation calls for it, or regret and what if’s would torn you apart? Hang on there. You can still make 2020 remarkable. Start small, take it slow. Be brave and courageous so you can make it through it all.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. A time to break down, and a time to build up. A time to seek, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.

  1. This article resonated with me. I found myself revisiting a childish dream and finally living it out. Crisis does have a way to catapult us to pursue our calling.

“Positioned us at the edge of a cliff to show how brave we can be to face depth of uncertainties. It brought us in the darkest place of desperation so we can appreciate the beauty reflecting from the light of hope” – this sums up how the first half of my year has been.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I felt seen. I found myself nodding in agreement to each line so beautifully written.

As always, eloquently written filled with words of wisdom intricately sown into a pervasive form of story.
